1804: Building nearing completion. (TM, 27 Sept 1804)

1871: Thoroughly renovated. Funds provided by Mr. John A. Stewart. (TM, 26 June 1871)

1878: Entrance to central door shortened. (Princetonian, 26 Sept 1878)

16 Nov 1914: By approval of the Trustees, the building offically named Stanhope Hall in honor of Samuel Stanhope Smith, 7th president of the university.

1964: Major renovation to repair structural weakening in the masonry. Architect for project was Carl F. Brauer.
