1989: University files a suit with the Princeton Borough Zoning board who ruled that to build the Materials Science Center the University must build a parking garage for the area.

1990: Agreement reached between borough and University to build the garage at desired site but with strict specifications by the borough as to traffic flow, style. etc.

1993: Parking Garage wins American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award calling the garage "practical yet lyrical".
