1907: Sir William Mather, a member of the British Parliament, given a honorary degree in 1905. He commissions the sundial as a gift to Princeton to honor the connection between Princeton and Oxford. The Mather Sundial is a replica of the sixteenth century Turbull Sundial at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. The calibration on the sundial reflects Princeton's geoographical coordinates.
