Princeton Graduate School

125th Anniversary

The Graduate School’s legacy is its people.

As we celebrate 125 years of formal graduate education at Princeton, we honor the graduate students, past and present, who have brought to life the idea of a “Community of Scholars” influencing and inspiring innovation in fields ranging from theoretical physics to mathematics, literature, public policy, and environmental sciences.

Throughout its history, the Graduate School has created an environment to foster groundbreaking scholarship and advanced training across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. We are committed to the idea of a graduate community in which students from all backgrounds can thrive at Princeton.

Today, more than 3,200 students from around the globe are currently enrolled in 46 graduate degree programs, including six new doctoral programs launched in the past 25 years.

The work of our students truly reflects Princeton’s unofficial motto: In the Nation’s Service and the Service of Humanity.

Rodney D. Priestley,
Dean of the Graduate School
