This design transforms the symbol of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s NRA (National Recovery Administration) into the class logo. The “NRA” at the top can also be read as “1934” although it would be hard to decipher without knowing. The eagle’s head is transformed into a portrait of President Harold Dodds. Instead of a gear and lightning bolts, the eagle holds a football and a beer mug symbolizing the undefeated football season in the fall of 1933 and the repeal of Prohibition. “WE DID OUR PART” is a parody of “WE DO OUR PART,” the slogan of the NRA.
